The scientists of Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics under the direction of Doctor of Medical Sciences Kh. Mukhamedzhanov, developed and introduced innovational technologies aimed at improving the results of treatment of patients with multiple and combined spinal trauma, their consequences and diseases of the spine.

The results were obtained on the basis of research of 321 patients with degenerative diseases of the spine. Surgical treatment of unstable and complicated injuries of the cervical spine can fully eliminate traumatic deformation, shorten the period of immobilization and treatment. In case of combined injuries, first of all, patients are removed from traumatic shock and surgical interventions aimed at saving the patient’s life are performed; secondly, they carry out the surgical intervention aimed at saving the organ. The developed methods of open and closed transpedicular plastic of the vertebral body and internal transpedicular fixation are less traumatic and economical surgical intervention. Primary surgical interventions herniated intervertebral discs are limited to the removal of the fragments that fell

out; repeated surgical interventions must be accompanied by the decompression of the neurovascular structures and stabilization of the spine. In operations on the spine, O-arm is used, which is the most modern method for controlling the correctness of operations.

The results of the research were reflected in 49 publications, including 27 in foreign journals. In addition, 1 patent was obtained.

The results of the study were introduced in the department of traumatology №1 NIITO. Over the period 2013-2015, 13 methods of treating patients with injuries and their consequences, degenerative diseases of the spine, both open and closed, minimally invasive, were introduced, the use of which will improve the results of treatment of patients.

The developed technologies of operative treatment with unstable and complicated injuries of spine allowed to fully eliminate the traumatic deformation, shorten the terms of immobilization and treatment, and contributed to early effective rehabilitation.
