The Republican scientific and practical conference “The problems of national liberation movement in Kazakhstan in the early 20th century” was held in Semei State University named after Shakarim in May 13, 2016, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of one of the largest historical events – national liberation revolution of people of Central Asia and Kazakhstan 1916.
Conference participants stressed the relevance of the theme: “Reasons of revolution were – resettlement policy of czarism and mass withdrawal of lands from indigenous population, the strengthening of colonial and social oppression, aggravation of national issue, decline of the situation of masses under the conditions of imperialist war. Czarist decree on 25 June, 2016 on the mobilization of indigenous population of Kazakhstan and Turkestan region to the rear work during the First World War was the immediate occasion for mass protests. The largest centers of the revolution were formed in Turgai and Zhetisu regions. The revolution with the root causes was brutally suppressed by czarist punitive detachments. The confrontation from both sides has led to many deaths of civilians, the fleeing of the populations of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan to China.
Within the framework of Republican scientific and practical conference it was reviewed the events of revolution 1916 on the basis of modern knowledge, in relation to the previous national liberal revolutions and movements, the meaning of these revolutions was showed in revival of Kazakh statehood.
The thematic exhibition of educational and scientific literature was organized during the conference.
