Practically all the buildings that will be built for EXPO-2017 will provide themselves withenergy - Tengrinews.kz reports citing the company Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture which is the author of the project winning in the international architectural competition for the best design idea of the EXPO-2017fairgrounds.

“Almost all the buildings of the exhibition area - our micro electric plants which will create energy and accumulate it (...).At EXPO-2017 streets’turnwillbe designed so that it should be available to get energy from wind, sun and wewillreach high performance electricity.There will be electromobiles, hydrogen means of transport and various engineering masterpieces will be connected to a common project” - one of the authors of the project winnerRobert Forrest described his project at a press conference in Astana.

He said that it is supposed to use biomass energy, thermal water, sun and wind in the project. “And in the end, very intelligent transport system will include a fueling station that will fill the electromobiles from renewable energy sources.This is not a demonstration project, this is a project that then will be inherited by the new community that will use all of these buildings,” - says Forest.

In its turn the Minister of Environment Mr. Kapparov said that EXPO-2017 will be able to provide itself with “green” energyover and above.

We suppose that it will be completely self-sufficient (with electricity –the author exam.) by 100 percent.We even assume that it will be positive energy that it will produce more energy than he needs, it will give the extra energy to the city power.” - said Kapparov.

“Residential complexes will provide themselves with energy from solar, wind and so on,” - he says.
Moreover, for all the doubters Minister declares: the sun in Astanais enough.

“We also have solar energy,just there may be less level of radiation than in Shymkent, but still there is solar energy here too, it possible to catch this energy. Conversely here wind ismore than in the south”- he said.

Earlier it was reported that the estimated area of housing within the EXPO-2017 will be more than 586,000 hectares.

Also Robert Forrest said that under the project, all exhibition pavilions will be built so that they could easily be converted into the new buildings.

National Company “Astana EXPO-2017” notes that the draft of EXPO in Astana will combine the ideas of the third industrial revolution about which the famous economist Jeremy Rifkin said in detail.
